I smother him with a pillow. . . no jk.
If I rub his back or arm or something he stops snoring. But soon after I stop he will continue snoring again. Why is this? Is it just because the feeling is relaxing and his breathing relaxes too? And is there something else I can do other than this? Obviously I can’t continue rubbing his back continually because I need my sleep too.
So a bit more detail about his snoring:
Even if he is still technically awake he will start to snore.
He grinds his teeth sometimes really loudly (they make a squeeking noise, like metal on metal)
No matter what position he sleeps in he snores, on his back, stomach or either side.
He smokes, how much worse does this make his snoring? (I wish he would quit)
Any info would be helpful, thanks.

Hi all
I used to snore, I sometimes have to sleep in rooms/tents with other people and they let me know it too. . . that I snored I mean.
Over a year ago I quit smoking and I recently questioned a reliable person if I’d been snoring the answer was no. . . . . and this was a week not a night being discussed, so what does it tell us?
I do find that smoking causes snoring a tall order, but maybe it does?

I have been snoring loudly and I smoke 2 packs of cigarettes daily. I have quit smoking before. During the times I quit, I swear my snoring was decreased substantially. A friend of mine said smoking has nothing to do with it. I believe the smoking does have alot to do with it. Does anyone know who is right?

Trying to quit snoring can be frustrating and a hassle. Especially when it keeps you up at night. So, what I’m going to do is share with you a snoring remedy. That way, you will be able to get some rest at night without being disturb by your snoring. The snoring remedies are:1. The first snoring remedy is honey. You should eat a teaspoon of honey every night before you go to bed. This will help you with you snoring. It’s very effective. 2. Another snoring remedy is to sleep on your side. If you sleep on your back, you will cause yourself to snore. What happens is you will block your air passages. So, to prevent this from happening, you should sleep on your side. 3. Using nasal drops is another way to help you stop snoring. Nasal drops will help you open up your nostrils. Which will help you stop snoring. 4. Another remedy is to elevate your head. You can do this by adding another pillow. When your head is in a low position, it causes you to block your air ways, which causes you to snore. By adding another pillow, you help prevent this from happening. 5. Another way to stop snoring is to not eat any dairy products before bed. Milk and yogurt products will cause you to snore if you eat them before going to bed. So, be sure you don’t eat them. These are some snoring remedies. If you are serious about curing your snoring, you should do something about it now. Be sure to use these remedies to help you.

Snoring, undeniable worsens your health and sytrains relationships. There is no wonder then why too many people want to quit snoring. Also everybody needs some rest after a hectic day.
The really sad thing is snoring is not voluntary. In fact, most smokers are blissfully unaware of snoring until they are told that they snore by their partners. These people can either control their throat muscles from dangling loosely or they can initiate snoring.
It is very hard to find the right cause of snoring because there a myriad reasons that contribute to it. Man has but devised various methods to locate the culprit. It is well known in the field of medicine that a cure can be easily found for a symptom whose cause is found. It is therefore quintessential for a person to find out the one reason that is really aggravating his snoring.
Any problem is incurable only when its root can’t be identified. There are many reasons as to why a person snores. When we zero down on the right one, we can cure it with ease. But locating the cause has itself proven to be time consuming.
It all comes down to you realizing what went incorrect. So if you identify the trigger for your problems, you can overcome it.
Smokers are found to have a greater chance to start snoring than non-smokers. Smoking is linked with way too many health hazards that can even prove life-threatening and fatal. Snoring is not fatal, but it can cause a lot of discomfort and losing sleep can indirectly lead to hypertension and cardiac problems. It makes you lose certain specific pleasures too.
The smoke and the substances in the cigarette smoke cause the esophagus’s cells to react. Thus a chain reaction sets up in a smoker’s throat and lungs that cause secretion of extra mucus to enable the lining to withstand the new harsh conditions. This leads to the accumulation of unwanted substances in your air passage which prevents free flow of air in and out of the lungs. This wildly aggravates snoring.
If you smoke, it might be the cause of you snoring. To make sure if this is the cause of you snoring, quit snoring for some time, and see the miraculous changes yourself.
Consumption of alcohol goes to the negative extreme. When a person drinks before sleeping, the neck muscles relax a bit too much. Once these muscles are relaxed in excess, they tend to slump into the free spaces in your throat. This leads of obstruction of air. When these muscles vibrate with flow of air, snoring occurs.
The obese are more prone to start snoring than those who have their weight under control. The heavier a person becomes, greater are the chances that he will start snoring when he is asleep. Snoring doesn’t start only because the person is obese. The likelihood increases because when a person becomes fatter, he will have more tissues in the airway in his neck.
Since these tissues obstruct normal flow of breath, snoring might occur.
A few others start snoring because of some form of allergy.
There are a dozen other reasons to why you snore. The only way to find out is to devise ways to find out! A general physician might be able to find out the reason. But if you want to have the best evaluation done, consult an otolaryngologist who is a specialist in throat, mouth and nose problems and their cures.

I thought if anyone would know it might be the Yahoo universe. Anyone know any excellent thoughts to get rid of snoring in your sleep? I recently quit smoking about 3 weeks back and I’m about 29, in decent shape and I run and work out but I snore in my sleep my girlfriend tells me. I probably am guilty of mouth breathing in my sleep as well. Any thoughts on what I might do to curb my snoring?

I have read a small about “treatments”, but curious to any opinions on here. I’ve read to quit smoking- done. Loose weight- but I’m not heavy. I have pretty terrible allergies which more than likely causes the snoring. My mate just started wearing earplugs. While we can joke about it and are dealing with each other’s snoring, we’d like to see what action could be taken. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
