Snoring often is the result of airways collapsing. Believe it or not those breathe right strips you can get at your local drugstore really work. They make a negative pressure gradient which opens up the airways. Consult your problem with your primary care physician for the best option for you. If the problem turns out to be sleep apnea, then a CPAP or BiPAP device may be necessary. In sleep apnea you have many episodes during the night where you stop breathing. You don’t get enough oxygen while you sleep, you often feel tired and run down. This can also lead to more serious problems.
Another technique is to sleep on your side. This is the best position because it removes the effect of gravity on your airways, especially in people that are overweight or obese.
