My roommate complained that I started snoring for the past few weeks and showed me a video clip of me sleeping. In the clip I was inhaling very deeply, making a quite audible sound. But, I wasn’t making the typical fluttering sound people produce when they snore and my mouth was closed. So technically I wasn’t snoring, right? Can anyone tell me the possible causes and solutions to it? Can it be a more serious medical condition?

Could be an obstruction which isn’t severe enough to cause a loud sound. If you are often tired during the day, you may have sleep apnea. If you feel fine, then you have nothing to worry about.
I hardly reckon you have a serious medical condition. You’ve probably snored on and off your whole life but noone has been around to videotape it. I refuse to admit that I snore, but many witnesses say I do. My partner does the snore on the outward breath which is a bit different but again really normal.
Snoring is perfectly normal when you’re really tired, been drinking alcohol, taken a sleeping tablet, etc.
Despite what my partner says, I never snore because that would be unladylike. But between you and me, I snore with the best of them at times.
Many people in deep sleep often breathe heavily or deeply. Unless you feel anything terrible, or suffer from nightmares, I reckon you’re OK.
